Foreclosure data is usually locked behind pricey subscriptions. We start with the real, free, public source: homes the U.S. government itself took back and is re-selling.
When the FHA pays out on a defaulted loan, it takes the home back and re-sells it. HUD publishes that whole inventory as a free public feed - thousands of bank-owned homes across the country (over five thousand at last refresh). We pull the full list and fold it into the same feed as every other home.
HUD's feed is mostly metro homes, so we add the USDA rural-development re-sale list - the same kind of government-owned homes, in the small towns HUD's list misses. Together they cover both city and country. Both are free, public, and legally licensed for this use - we don't scrape anyone's portal.
The honest part: HUD's feed gives the address but no price, so we never invent one. The home flows into the feed marked “awaiting a value estimate,” and our cost-controlled value worker prices it later. You'll never see a made-up number on a foreclosure.
These are official government re-sale listings, not a reseller's repackaged data. When a price isn't known yet, we say so plainly rather than guessing.
